TEMPORARY VISITATION RESTRICTIONS in Effect March 13, 2020.
Our number one priority is resident and staff safety. To prevent the spread of contagions or infectious diseases like the COVID-19, we are implementing visitation restrictions as advised by the Department of Health and the CDC.
Only personnel who are “Absolutely necessary for the operations of the community” include but may not be limited to, home staff, contracted and emergency healthcare providers, contractors conducting crucial on-site maintenance, and governmental representatives and regulators and their contractors.
Visitors and personnel will be screened. Screening questions include questions about exposure to COVID-19 and assessing visitors and personnel for cough, shortness of breath, and body temperatures of 100.4 degrees and higher.
Brandi Coleman, Residence Manager
Hello, We are The Wyngate! Our community is located just outside of Huntington, in the small village of Barboursville. This village is very welcoming and many people know each other; Wyngate simply adds to the small hometown environment. We strive to provide great care while maintaining a very homelike atmosphere. We let each of our residents know that they don’t live in our community, we work in their home. Residents have their own private apartment at The Inn which gives them a sense of independence, yet allowing assistance to be readily available if needed.
The staff and residents at The Wyngate Senior Living Community invite you to visit our community and enjoy the relaxed, warm atmosphere. Join us for a planned activity or just come to share one of our famous home cooked meals. Guests are always welcome. Please stop by or call me anytime at 304-733-6800, I'm here to help!
Meet Lo Massey, our Activity Director!!
I began my employment with Chancellor at the age of 18, working as a Resident Aide at Wyngate's sister community, the Villages at Greystone, in Beckley, WV. After 3 years, I moved to Huntington and continued as a Resident Aide with Wyngate at the Barboursville location. I left to pursue other career opportunities, until I recently learned that Wyngate was searching for a new Activities Director. I decided to return to the company that I love and pursue this new role, as I felt I had a lot to bring to the table. While being in the supportive role of providing self-care physically to our customers over the past 12 years, this new position allows me to provide care in a different way by making a difference in their day-to-day lives through fun-filled activities and keeping their state of mind upbeat and positive.
My favorite hat that I wear is my biggest accomplishment and greatest joy - MOM. I have 2 daughters, Yazlyn Williams, who is 11 and Nori Williams, who is 4. I am engaged to my partner in crime of 12 years, James Williams. I have truly enjoyed every moment and the responsibility entrusted to me as the Activities Director here in Barboursville. My vision for the residents at Wyngate is simply this: “I want to create an environment enriched with fun in order to give our customers the best quality of life possible. I want to know that at the end of the day, I and my team, have been responsible for making them laugh and making every day count”. I firmly believe that laughter is always the best medicine.
I am so happy to have this opportunity to try and make a difference in the everyday lives of people that have given so much of themselves, selflessly, to my generation, their families, and their country. I consider it a great honor and privilege to be a part of a community that wakes up with determination each day and goes to bed with satisfaction. That is The Wyngate Barboursville. This is my home away from home. If I had a life quote that I chose to live by, it would be: “You only live once, but if you do it right, once is enough” – (Mae West).
